Sutton Farm opens its gates to School Parties.

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce Sutton Farm to you as a location your school may like to visit.

Located in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that runs along the Suffolk Coast and up the River Deben we can offer a unique, interesting and fun learning location for your students. Sutton farm is an arable farm with a variety of crops being grown all year round. Although we have no farm animals the varied landscape offers a wide selection of wildlife that can be seen and studied on the site.

On a visit to a working farm your students can begin to gain a real appreciation of how food gets into the Supermarket, what crops can be grown in different conditions and the environmental impact. Days can be tailored to the subjects, year groups and abilities of groups and cross many areas of the National Curriculum including geography, science and PSHE.

Sutton Farm has a unique setting for its 700 acres, ranging from the fields around Sutton Hoo at the top of the site all the way down to the shores of the river Deben. This variation in landscapes not only effects what we grow, but all makes a good habitat for wildlife. Deer are regularly seen on the farm along with foxes, rabbits and squirrels. Birdlife is also abundant with many varieties including Coot, Great Crested Grebe and Tufted Duck being attracted to the two reservoirs on the farm.
